"Duchess" - Cornish Crabber, GRP hull , 22ft gaff cutter
01/2010
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Cornish
Crabber 22 – ‘PIOUS PELICAN’ - SOLD within 7 weeks
This beautiful eight year-old Cornish Crabber 22 gaff cutter has a blue
hull, cream topsides, and traditional tan sails. She is in very good
condition and moored on the inner pontoon (berth B3) at Mylor Yacht
Harbour, near Falmouth, Cornwall, from where I have been sailing her
since buying her (new) in 2001 from Cornish Crabbers at Rock. The
engine has been maintained by Cellar Marine of Porthallow, and
Spokeshave Yacht Services of Penryn repainted the hull with four coats
of Awlgrip in 2007.
Terms for the remainder of this season’s berthing contract
and
even for the berth itself may be negotiated.
The boat is for sale with or without her road trailer, built especially
for her by Lizard Trailers in 2001 (and used only to take the boat from
Mylor to Chacewater each year, where the boat and the trailer
overwinter in a shed, and back again). There is also for sale a small
hardly-used dinghy with its outboard, which is easily stored in one of
the cockpit lockers.
SALE PRICE (July 2009)
In addition to the standard equipment, the sale price includes:
• 2 anchors
• Boarding ladder
• Compass C22
• Mooring warps
• Log/Echo autohelm
• VHF radio and aerial
• Garmin GPS and aerial
• Navigation lights
• Sea toilet
• Cigar socket

This is a fully up and running boat in very good condition with a comprehensive inventory and electronics package. August 2007 survey is available by fax if required. The boat has undergone a complete refurbishment over the winter of 2007 and much money and time has been spent, with most items being replaced or upgraded. The addition of the BETA diesel engine gives her plenty of power and turns her into a very useful motor sailor when required. BETA engines are very quiet and fuel consumption is approx 1 Litre per hour at cruising revs (just over half throttle) which gives you 5 knots. Top speed 7 knots.
This Crabber has been successfully cruised to Brittany single-handed in June 2008 and has the benefit of the original Cornish Crabbers spray hood which provides excellent protection in foul weather and enables the cabin washboards to be left open underway in normal sailing conditions. It can be folded down when not required. There are also stanchions and safety wires around the cockpit which are a useful handhold when stepping up onto or down off the deck. There is also a very useful purpose built gantry for stowing the boom. A Cornish Crabbers original Boom Tent is included and a small light weight tarp cockpit cover. There is a 12v strip light above the galley and a light above the port berth and in the forward cabin, as well as an engine compartment light.
